Game of the Month: September - Heroes of Might and Magic III

There are times where you just need to sit down and find a really good game. No not one of those new fancy ones with realistic graphics, or the one that makes you move to do stuff. I mean one of those old games that really defined how good a video game can be. Which is why for this month, I am taking a look back at my old friend, Heroes of Might and Magic III.

Heroes is a turn based strategy game, meaning that you do your stuff, then wait while your opponents do theirs. While the concept may seem a little dull, it is in fact quite fun and makes you think quite a bit. This is mainly do to the fact the since this isn't in real time, where your opponent(s) is doing things are you are doing them, you have to make your moves with the question, "What will my opponent do?" on your mind. It makes for a lot of fun in my opinion.

Now as for what is actually in the game. You play as a warlord that is trying to conquer the world (or just a map in most cases). To do this you assemble armies lead by powerful heroes that are both adept with magical abilities, and have combat potential. Each of your heroes have an army, which you can continually continue to increase as the game progresses. In order to defeat your enemies you need to destroy all your heroes, and all their cities. However if you lose all your heroes and cities, you lose.

Each city is what generates your armies. There are a couple I can name off the top of my head; Castle, Inferno, Dungeon, Tower, Necropolis, and there are still more than just those. In each of your cities you can build buildings to increase your gold production and to increase your creature production for your heroes' armies.

Overall Heroes of Might and Magic III is an amazing game for you to play, whether alone, or with your friends (as it does have multiplayer). I give it two thumbs up and a 9/10 rating =)

Enjoy your gaming
