Nostalgia Game of the Month!!!! (February)

You know....February only has 28 days...and I keep forgetting that every year.  Didn't hit me until a couple of minutes ago that, "Hey! Today is March 1st you idiot!"  Which then made me realize I am late on telling you guys about the game of the month...well one of them anyway.

As a quick explanation for those who don't know, or have forgotten, February is what I call my nostalgia month.  Where I try and take the time to go back and play a game I haven't played in a long time and once again enjoy the fun times it brought me.  With that in mind my nostalgia game of the month is Megaman Battle Network 3 for the Gameboy Advanced!

Ya...never thought I would end up doing a Gameboy game as a game of the month either.  I have surprised both myself and all my fans.

Now there are a lot of different types of Megaman games in the franchise.  There's Megaman (obviously), Megaman X, Megaman Zero, and Megaman Battle Network (there are probably a couple more, but I haven't played those ones....yet).  In the Megaman Battle Network series you play as a kid named Lan who has a Navi named Megaman.  Now the best way for me to describe what a Navi is...uhh...lets see...remember those tamagachi pets or whatever they were called that were all the rage like 10 or so years ago?  Ya one of those, only instead of some stupid 8 bit animal you can reset, it's like a HD person that has a conscious and can be your friend.  So in this world even the nerd loners have friends (can you see why I like the game so much? >_>)!

Anyway Lan and Megaman together are this super awesome team that go around thwarting the plans of evil organization, oh ya and they make sure to get to class every day.  Did I neglect to mention that Lan is an elementary school kid?  Ya that's a kick in the balls for anyone who runs an evil organization, "Sir, we've been brought down single handedly by a 6th grader!"  Oh you would be the laughing stock of the evil world....

In Battle Network 3 the main villain is Wily, head of the evil WWW organization.  WWW by the way...well I have no idea what it stands for in the game! THEY NEVER TELL YOU WHAT IT MEANS!!!!  It makes me a little sad to be honest...

So as you progress through the game and have Lan do every day things a 6th grader does, you know, go to School,  wander around the city on his own, break into a high security science facility to see your dad, and oh ya, defeating stupid evil people at every turn.  It may seem a little lame when I lay it out like that, but everything is strung together in such a way that it is either funny or actually at that point in time interesting so it gets you to continue on.  One thing I don't like is just how if you die at any point in time except one specific spot where you are suppose to die it's game over.  No check points or anything.  I mean I know it's the gameboy advanced, but prompting you to save before entering an area where you will be locked in a cutscene and then thrown into a boss fight seems like a good idea, just saying.

All in all Megaman Battle Network 3 was a game I enjoyed as a kid, and I still enjoy it now.  If you have something that can play Gameboy Advanced games then by all means try and find this and play it (I doubt it would be much more than $15 to be honest) if not...well I think there are video walk-throughs of the game you can watch on Youtube.

Now there is another game I will be doing for my game of the month as well.  It's a game that came out this month and was a lot of fun for me to play.  However...just to torment you all, you can see that one tomorrow ;)
