Geek of the Week: Game of the Month March 2010

Well surprise, surprise, March is over and it is time for this month's game of the month. And is it any guess as to what it is? Yep you guessed it, God of War 3.

Now before I get to into this review, I know I made a post earlier about my distaste in the game's ending. That still holds true as I believe Kratos deserved a better ending. But none the less the ending is not enough to ruin how purely awesome this game was.

For those who aren't familiar with the God of War game series, you play as the mighty Spartan warrior Kratos, who has been betrayed by the gods and is seeking revenge in the only way he knows how; by killing them.

The game play in God of War 3 is exactly like the game play in the first two games, only with two differences:
1. the 'simon says' scenes as they have been dubbed are shorter and easier to do with the buttons needing to be pressed being on the screen in the locations they are on on the gamepad (for example the square will appear on the left side of the screen).
2. The abilities and weapons that you get in the game are easier to level up meaning you can do more combos, sooner in the game with more weapons (I had about ten thousand left over red orbs at the end of the game)

As for the graphics, much like every other game I have reviewed, they are simply astounding. When I put the game into my Playstation and started the game my jaw literally dropped. The blood, the gore, the mayhem, the chaos, every part of the games graphics, in my opinion are completely and utterly flawless.

Now onto what I consider to be the most important part of any game, the storyline. To me the storyline was great, filled with many plot twists and turns that only drew you further into the game and made you not want to put down the controller. Even though I had a distaste for the ending (you can like it if you want, I am allowed to have my own opinions am I not?) the rest of the story was great and I am actually looking forward to playing it again.

I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who has played and enjoyed the first two in the series, and for those who haven't I highly suggest playing them, then playing this. You will not regret it. Trust me.

In the end I give this game a rating of 9/10
